By entering this Competition, entrants agree to abide by these Terms and Conditions and the decisions of Sponsor and Judges, which shall be final and binding on all matters relating to this Competition.

  1. HOW TO ENTER: Go to (“Website”), Follow the instructions on the Website to complete the entry form for the Competition (“Entry”) which will include: (a) a description/overview of the app you propose to build  or port for BB10 and which of the following three (3) categories the app is built on AIR, HTML5/WebWorks or Native Gaming (the “Categories”) (together, the “App”); (b) an essay telling us why you believe your App should be selected as the winner (maximum 500 words) (“Business Case”); and, (c) a list of your application development capabilities (“Developer Profile”).   You will also be given the opportunity to submit a video that demonstrates your App (maximum 1 minute in length) to support your Entry (“Video”).  The Video itself is optional and will not be judged - the sole purpose of the Video is to further demonstrate your App - it will not be used on its own to provide an advantage over those Entries that are not submitted with a Video.  Entries will be judged as per Rule 4 below.

In the event of a duplicate Entry, only the first entry received will be accepted.  Sponsor reserves the right to refuse to accept Entries that are substantially similar by any entrant.   All Entries must be submitted on-line by him/herself, as instructed, within the Entry Period to be eligible.  Proof of submission does not constitute proof of receipt.  The Competition Administrator’s server will be the official time clock for this Competition.  Any Entries received by any person or email address in excess of the stated limitation will be void.  The use of automated devices or any other mechanism that has the ability to circumvent the proper conduct of this Competition, whether intentional or otherwise, is prohibited.  Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify, at its sole discretion, any Entry/ies that appear(s) to benefit from such device, mechanism or any other process that has the ability to subvert the winner selection mechanic.

Any Entries that do not comply with these Terms and Conditions, in the sole opinion of the Sponsor, may be disqualified.

Entrants must be the sole creators of the Entries submitted in this Competition.  Modifying, enhancing or altering a third party’s pre-existing work does not qualify as entrant’s original creation and will be disqualified from the Competition.

The App must also conform to the BlackBerry App World Vendor Guidelines available at:  http://us. or the Entry will be disqualified.

Entrants can port any App from any platform including Android, iOS, WebOS, etc to BlackBerry 10 as long as it fits within the Categories.  The following categories of applications are specifically excluded from eligibility for the Competition (referred to herein as “Excluded Applications”):

  1. Web launchers or shortcuts;
  2. Applications that do not provide a functionality that is considered useful to the end user, as determined by Sponsor, in its sole and absolute discretion;

(d) Web browsers; and

(e) Applications that provide a simple, single function, such as playing noise or displaying a graphic.

Any entrant who intentionally and/or fraudulently provides incorrect personal data may be eliminated at the Sponsor’s discretion.  In the event of a dispute regarding who submitted an Entry, Entrants may be required to provide proof of identity or proof of ownership of the App at the request of the Sponsor.  Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify any entrant who fails to provide such proof upon request.

  1. JUDGING: Entrants will be required to pitch their Entry to a panel of experts selected by Sponsor (“Judges”) at the Event on May 2, 2012 (“Pitch”).  Pitch cannot be longer than three (3) minutes.  Entrants will need to check in at the Help Desk at the Event to determine what time they will present their Pitch.  Following all of the Pitches, three (3) Entrants from each of the three Categories will be selected as finalists (“Finalists”).  Finalists will be required to pitch their App Idea one more time (“Final Pitch”) at a prearranged time on May 3, 2012.  Final Pitches must not be longer than five (5) minutes.  Eligible Finalists will be notified by email by 11:59:59pm ET on May 2, 2012 with details on the time and location of their Final Pitch.  Any Entrants who do not appear in person to present their Pitch or Final Pitch will be disqualified.

Entries will be judged on the following weighted criteria:  (1) Business Case (30%); (2) the Pitch and Final Pitch, where applicable (25%); and (3) integration and functionality of the App on the BlackBerry 10 platform (45%) (collectively, the “Judging Criteria”).  Entrants are strongly encouraged to work on integrating their App on the BB10 platform as Judges will pay close attention to the integration and functionality of the App.  One (1) Entrant will be selected from each of the three Categories as the Grand Prize winner.  The odds of winning depend on the number of entries and how well the Entry conforms to the Judging Criteria based on the Judges decisions.  Decisions of Sponsor, Competition Administrator and Judges are final and binding, without right of appeal, in all matters relating to the Competition.   In the event of a tie, the tie breaker will be awarded to the Entry with the highest score for the first judging criterion, continuing thereafter to each judging criterion in order, as needed, to break the tie.

Sponsor reserves the right not to award a prize if, in its sole discretion, they do not receive a sufficient number of eligible and qualified Entries. Decisions of Sponsors and Judges are final and binding, without right of appeal, in all matters relating to the Judging and the Competition   generally.  Among the Finalists, the odds of winning depend on how well each Entry meets with the Judging Criteria as per the Judges.

  1. WINNER NOTIFICATION:  Each of the three (3) potential winners will be notified on site within one (1) hour following the end of the Final Pitch sessions.  If an Entrant is found to not be in compliance with these Official Rules, any Prize is returned as undeliverable or the entrant is unable to accept the Prize for any reason, the entrant will be disqualified, his/her Prize will be forfeited and may be awarded to an alternate entrant at the sole discretion of the Sponsor.  If the Prize is not successfully claimed by Winner by 11:59:59pm ET on May 3, 2012, it will be forfeited and may be awarded to an alternate entrant at the sole discretion of the Sponsor.  Before being declared a winner, an entrant may be required to complete, sign and return an Affidavit of Eligibility/Liability Release and, where lawful, Publicity Release, prior to delivery of the Prize.  Sponsor is not responsible for any change of email address, mailing address and/or telephone number of entrants.
